Mafra

Mafra,a city and a municipality in thedistrict of Lisbon, on the west coast ofPortugal,is mostly known for the sumptuous Mafra National Palace. Built in thebaroquestyle, the Mafra National Palace also inspired PortugueseNobel Prize laureate José Saramagoto write his novelBaltasar and Blimunda(Memorial do Convento). Other points of interest around the municipality include theTapada Nacional de Mafra, an enclosed wildlife andgame reserve, andEriceira's World Surf Reserve, the 2º in the world.
